Hong Kong Day 6

It finally happened today, we had an egg custard tart! Trust me it was the best egg custard tart I’ve ever had, warm, soft melting pastry and full of filling! There were 2 choices and we had both of them obviously! The flaky puff pastry tart was $3 (£0.25) and the shortcrust pastry tart was $2.5 (£0.18) so they were very cheap. I don’t think I’d ever be able to replicate this at home; the pastry was beautifully brown and the filling rich and golden. It’s something that you can only get in Hong Kong.
But aside from that, we also went to yum cha with my grandad’s relatives. There we had Malaysian sponge cake and turnip cake among other dishes. You only tend to find these cheap eats in the New Territories.
